ISing welcomes singers of all types. There is no audition required to join, but we do ask all new singers to meet with the Choir Manager and Artistic Director so that we can fully explain the organization and expectations and answer any questions you may have. The size of the choir is limited to 80, and because space is limited we do ask for a commitment to the group, a willingness to work hard to achieve a level of excellence with the music, attendance at all concerts and a minimum of 75% of rehearsals.
ISing runs two seasons of music culminating in a series of performances. The fall-winter season begins rehearsing in September and concludes the first weekend in December. The spring season continues from there with performances the first weekend in May. Also included in the spring season is our annual fundraiser the first weekend in March.
Each season ISing chooses a non-profit organization from the community as a beneficiary of the donations collected at the concerts. This has become a wonderful tradition allowing our singers and community to give back and giving an opportunity for worthy organizations to get their word out.
Musicians pay a choir fee of $35 each season and are provided with a set of music which is theirs to keep. Musicians are also asked to participate in the fundraising efforts, and to contribute to the administrative work of ISing Choir in some fashion which could be anything from setting up equipment at performances to serving on the Board of Directors.
The choir rehearses once a week. Rehearsals are held from on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:15 pm at Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ on 6th and Watson in Beaverton. You are encouraged to visit a rehearsal to get the feel for how things go before making the commitment to join.
If you would like to be a part of ISing Choir, here are the steps to take:
- Familiarize yourself with ISing Choir. You can find information about our mission and how we operate throughout this website.
- Familiarize yourself with the expectations of all ISing musicians by downloading and reading through the Musician's Brochure.
- Let us know of your interest and add yourself to the contact list by completing the form to the right. You can expect to receive an email invitation to a new singers meeting when openings are available in the choir. These meetings typically occur in between seasons - over the summer in preparation for the fall-winter season and in December for our spring season.
