: about ISing .:
ISing Community Choir is a community choir based in Beaverton, Oregon and serving the Portland metro area. Our primary purpose is to develop and promote an appreciation of choral music through the presentation of public concerts and performances and to educate its musicians and the general public in the musical arts.
ISing Community Choir welcomes singers of all ability levels and no auditions are required for participation. We perform concerts of the finest that choral music has to offer under the direction of Conductor and Artistic Director, Stephen Galván. Our benefit concerts have provided an opportunity for our patrons to support their community by donating to charitable organizations.
ISing Community Choir promotes an appreciation of choral music and the expanding of cultural awareness by offering its musicians an opportunity to tour. Our travels include Spain in 2005 where we had the privilege of participating in the Castille International Choir Festival, and England in 2008 when we were hosted by Renaissance Voices.
why are we different?
ISing has been fortunate to attract top quality musicians and volunteers which have contributed to the outstanding performance of the group. Although auditions are not required to join, singers do come to the choir with an expectation of high quality and hard work, intermixed with a lot of fun. There is no paid staff, and fees for singers are kept to a minimim in order to cover basic expenses of participation.
ISing takes the 'community' part of our name seriously. Every penny of donations collected at our benefit concerts - yes 100% - are forwarded to local non-profit organizations making a difference in our area. We are proud of our history in supporting our community, and having raised over $30,000 in funds during our history.
