Death Set to Music
October 30, 2021
Our first performance in a year and a half will focus on the lives lost during the pandemic, and offer an opportunity to collectively share our grief. During the height of the pandemic last winter, we lost two people to Covid-19 every minute. It is not well known that we lose a person to suicide at about the same rate, and there is evidence that may have worsened during the pandemic. This concert will honor those lives lost.
We will be performing the US premier of Iver Kleive's "Requiem" written in memory of his son and the victims of 9/11, this moving collection was also performed at the memorial for those who were killed in the Oslo bombing and terrorist attack on Utøya Island on July 22, 2011. It will be a fitting piece for this occasion.
